In our Salesteam we actively use Alex to trying to figure out how many unique website visitors a company has on a monthly basis. Firstly it is good to understand how Alexa actually tracks is visitors.

Alexa’s Traffic Ranks are based on the traffic data provided by users in Alexa’s global data panel over a rolling 3 month period. Traffic Ranks are updated daily. A site’s ranking is based on a combined measure of Unique Visitors and Pageviews. Unique Visitors are determined by the number of unique Alexa users who visit a site on a given day. Pageviews are the total number of Alexa user URL requests for a site. However, multiple requests for the same URL on the same day by the same user are counted as a single Pageview. The site with the highest combination of unique visitors and pageviews is ranked #1.

This means they are truly basing their metrics based on their users, but still Alexa is the industry standard to measure visitors and website popularity. This make Alexa rank truly matter in finding out more about if this is a company with traffic or not.

We created based on data of traffic across the globe what we believe is a very precise approximation of Alexa traffic rank to an estimation of their monthly visitors.
